Crusin the Drag 2016
Cruisin the Drag was hosted by Old Autos newspaper in affiliation with the first annual Collector Car Appreciation Day in Ontario. The cruise was held on Friday, July 8th at the Bothwell Area Sports Centre. Even with the hot, hot temperatures and the threat of thunderstorms, (which did arrive, but fortunately after the event ended). Approximately 40 cars came out, with many spectators stopping by to check out the vehicles that attended the cruise. The Bothwell Area Recreation Advisory Committee (BARAC) provided food and drinks. At 7 pm all the vehicles lined up and to cruise the streets of Bothwell for a good old fashion cruise.
Collector Car Appreciation Day was originally formed by SEMA ‘to acknowledge the significance in raising awareness of the vital role automotive restoration and collection plays in American society.’ Old Autos Newspaper and the Canadian Transportation Museum in Essex joined forces this year to become part of the celebrations. Old Autos, the museum and area historic car clubs are now working together to lobby to have Collector Car Appreciation Day proclaimed by the Ontario government as an official day of celebration.
Watch for details in Old Autos newspaper on events being planned for next year and the progression of the proclamation.
